CMS not starting

Hi All,

i have installed BOXIR2 on my Laptop (XPSP2), i could not start the CMS at the end of the installation. i am using Mysql as sysdatabas & Audit.
i have gone through the forum.

tried to solve it by checking the event viewer.

the steps i checked are…

went to host file in Windows and added my server name to it.

i checked the event viewer again and it said that port 6400 is been used by other application.

then i changed the port number of CMS to 6401 and tried to start it. it appeard as started but when i started other services i had errors in event viewer as “Could not connect to CMS”…

i was bit dissapointed because i couldnt find proper solution after lot of search…

if any one has faced such problems & fixed it please send me step by step approch to solve it.

Thanks very much in advance…

Arvind

Arvind,
Have you checked for clues by reading the error log for CMS under “c:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjectsEnterprise 11.5\Logging”?

You mention the use of MySQL. In some cases you must set up MySQL to perform under BOE properly. To double-check your MySQL .ini settings, please follow this post:

but now i am able to logon to CMC and when i logon to Infoview i get the following error:

Account Information Not Recognized: The initcofig.file doesn’t exist, please contact administrator.

does any one know how we can fix this.

Arvind,
I just re-read your original posting:

Looking at the BOE XI R2 Supported Platforms (Windows) PDF, under Server Products, it lists only Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 Server types, not XP workstation. I have heard in the wild that others have been able to get XI R2 services to load on a XP workstation, but I don’t know exactly how they did it and what gymnastics they had to perform to get there. If at all possible, I’d suggest reformatting your laptop as a Windows 2003 Server and try again…

Thanks,
John

Try specifying ip and port no in configuration properties of all the services. In your case it would be IP:6401
