CITRIX WEBI and JAVA

We upgraded the JAVA on our CITRIX servers to 1.6.20 and now if you try to save as Excel from WEBI in edit mode it bounces you out to the log in screen and once the user logs back in again it then opens Excel. I can do a save as PDF fine from the edit screen and saving to Excel or PDF works fine in interactive mode. Anyone else seen this? Any fixes?

Once again stuck between two 3rd party applications and Micro$oft

You mean WebI Rich Client?

No in WEBI when you do a save as Excel in edit (modify) mode. We are on XIR2 SP3 so no rich client.

How is citrix related to the issue? Are you accessing IE via citrix?

yes our users are using a CITRIX appliance to access our network and their virtual desktop.

What happens if you use WebI + Java 6.20 WITHOUT Citrix (connected directly to the network).

I don’t have experience with this specific issue, but a general recommendation would be to downgrade java to an earlier version. An alternate option is to upgrade from SP3 to the latest SP (SP6). I’m guessing you don’t want to do the later just for a minor bug like this.

Any plans to upgrade to XI 3.1? Or is that not on the radar yet?

Just starting the project to upgrade to XI 3.1.

It is the combination of CITRIX and JAVA and IE causing the issue. The same version of JAVA on a nomal PC or laptop works fine.

My suggestion would be to try it with a user that has admin rights on the server and see if it’s still an issue. You may have locked down the citrix server so that parts of the process are not available to users.

Looks like culprit may be newer version of JAVA. I had a PC upgraded from 1.6_03 to 1.6_20 and it is doing the same thing the CITRIX desktops are doing now. I checked the PAR and it looks like it only goes up to 1.5 for JAVA. So getting any help from SAP is probably out.
