Changing Universe in WEBI

Hi, We have 2 universes which have identical object structure. One is History and other is Current universe, the 2nd one storing the latest data only, hence queries run faster when based on this.

Now, in WEBI, we can create new reports having 2 queries and they can be from 2 different universes - History and Current. But the problem is, I already have an existing report where 2 queries are from History universe. Now I want to change one of them to Current universe. Not able to do that… since changing the universe affects both the queries. Any idea how to do this ?

I didn’t get what you meant. Did you try changing the universe and mapping the objects?

Yes, I want to change the universe from History to Current in order to improve performance. But I want only 1 of the 2 queries to be shifted to the Current universe as the other one needs to retrieve the history data. But when I change the universe name, the objects from both the queries get mapped to the new universe. Is there any way I can just change universe for 1 query and not for both ?

I’ll take a punt and say I don’t think it can be done. It does seem like a limitation that you change one and all automatically change.

Ya it seems so, unfortunately.
So the only option remains to recreate the report, there we can select different universes for both the queries.

Just a thought, we have XI R2 SP2. Any idea whether SP3 or SP4 fixes it ?

SP3 definitely doesn’t and I would guess that SP4 doesn’t either.

This is the way its always worked in XIr2 and still works, even in 3.0 - absolute rubbish… :nonod:.

Unsure whether this has changed in 3.1…

FYI in 3.1 also it is not fixed.

Thanks

I have many reports that run on multiple universes with no problems - we have a set of 8 universes with exactly the same structure, but different databases behind them.

The problem occurs only when you “Duplicate” a query in a report. That is, if you create a query, right-click on the query tab at the bottom of the screen and select “Duplicate Query”.

If you select “Add Query”, there is no problem with changing the universe on only one of them.

So, you could edit the report that you want to change, Add Query and create the history query, the delete the original query that the history query is replacing.
