can't View SQL as Administrator

Hello,

I am logged in as Administrator, but when I try to view the SQL generated by the report I get the following error.

Your security profile does not include permission to view the SQL generated by the query. (Error: WIS 30256)

I am pretty sure the Administrator rights are set up correclty.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks!

Double check if you didn’t setup an explictly denied right especially at the Everyone group level … or at user level

This happend to me once we installed SP4. There is a new option for rights- View SQL. By default is not specified.

Hi Nattek,

I am experiencing the same problem. Where can I find this right? If I go to CMS\BusinessObjects Enterprise Applications > Web Intelligence >
Advanced Rights for groups, I can’t find the ‘View SQL’ right… I get the problem at creating a new Webi document. I first have to save it in my favorites before I can view the SQL. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can find it in Home>Settings click on Rights then for administrators Net Access (Advanced) click on Advanced, then look for Web Intelligence document you will see View Sql right. By default is not specified.

Thanks, but if I change it there it is still not helping. Even if I change it for the everyone group it doesn’t work :hb: . It remains very unclear how BO uses the rights and to see which rights are set.

Are you getting an error message?
Were you able to see sql query before installing sp4?

nattek :macedonia: (BOB member since 2006-10-25)

I just get the error message ‘Your security profile does not include permission to view the SQL generated by the query. (Error: WIS 30256)’. And I only get it at creating a new Webi report without saving it first. By the way, we are still at SP3. Changing the right at Home\Settings doesn’t help and changing the right for the folders doesn’t help (which is logical because the report is not saved yet). So unless there is another place where this right can be set, another right must be involved or there are some conflicting rights somewhere. Thanks.

bblokhuys,

Take a look at this topic, I hope it helps.

It looks like this is a bug since SP3.

Have a look at SAP note 1205181.

In the CMC go to
(1) Home > BusinessObjects Enterprise Applications > Web Intelligence
(2) Net Access
(3) Then change the rights.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help, but as said before this is what I do and which doesn’t work. I will try to get to the SAP post and see if that will help. Thanks.

Hi David,

I was now able to read the SAP note, but unfortunately it doesn’t help me. I can’t even see a right called ‘View SQL’, see attached screenshot. That would mean we are not running SP3 right? But I am quit sure we do. Do you know how I can be sure of the version we are running? Thanks.

To check your version number go to Settings in the CMC (from the homepage) and check your “Product Version” against the list here:
