I am using CR 2011 with SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.2 Support Pack 3.
When I try to create a new report in Crystal reports I cannot save it to the enterprise server.
When I select Save As from the File menu, I can log on to the enterprise server, select the folder on the server to save the report in, but when I press OK I get the following error:
Transport error: Communication Failure (FWM 00001)
If I upload the report to the server via the CMC web portal, I can open it
through the repository explorer in CR, and edit / save it without issue, but if I try to save as an give it a new filename I get the above error.
I can also use the report upload tool without any problems as well.
Version 4.2 of the BI Platform specifically works with Crystal 2016 SP3. You’re on Crystal 2011, so I would suggest upgrading. If your company has a maintenance contract on Crystal, it’s a free upgrade.
Based on the error, another thing you might want to look at is the communication between your workstation and the server(s) where your BO system is located:
Is there a firewall on the server(s) that might block the connection from your workstation?
Is the BO system on a different domain? If so, you’ll need to fully qualify the server name when you try to log in to the system.
If you’re using a cluster name (@…), the first time you log in you’ll need to use a server name so that the correct registry settings are created. If you don’t have admin rights to your workstation, you’ll always have to use the server name.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately upgrading Crystal reports is not an option at the moment.
The server is not in a cluster, I can use the FQDN or IP to connect to the server from my PC.
There is a firewall between my PC and the server. We have opened ports 6400 to 6410 in both directions. Should a port be assigned to a specific
server in the CMC for this activity?
With a few exceptions, the server processes in the BI platform run on some random ports outside of that range when they’re set to use an auto-assigned port. The exceptions are:
You may also want to consider setting specified ports on the rest of the server processes in the system. For this, you’ll also have to expand the port range that’s open through the firewall because there will be more than 7 additional (then number between 6400 and 6410 that are available) ports required.
Another work around where we were able to save Crystal Reports 2013 reports to a BOXI system and it might work for you. In the BI launchpad, you can right click (or use an menu option) to open a local document. You probably will have to go into CMC and set the database options.
Hello, were you able to resolve this issue - we’re experiencing the same. We’ve opened and specifically assigned ports for the Crystal Report Services, but still see the error you’ve documented.
Thanks for the replies all, I know its been a long time since I posted this but I forced to just live with it for a while due to more pressing projects.
Anyways, the reason for not being able to save new reports to the server was the firewall blocking the WACS port.
The request port was set to auto assign which ended up on port 54697 (which was blocked) and the HTTP port was set to 6405 (which was open) I set the request port to 6405 and the http port to 54697 and I am now able to save new reports and save as existing reports on the server.
