We are finding the warn if cost estimate box is greyed out and cannot change - we are using BOXI R2 SP3 and have used this feature in version 5 previously on the same databases - oracle 01g which use cost-based optimsation.
Any idea why this is the case and if can switch on somehow - logged in as administrator.
These are in the data access folder, on the server. When you test the connection, in Designer, show details will give you the full path.
There used to be prm files on client machines also, but this may have died a death in the XI world, where you connect via the server.
I’m going through this exercise right now as well. I do have access to the server and have made the necessary changes to the PRM, SBO and CS.CFG files (on the server) AND enabled the connection server. I found that on my client machine, these setting changes at the server had no effect but when I logged onto the server and fired up Designer there, I could manipulate the setting.
We use Oracle 10g and XI 3.1 SP2. I bet if you tweaked your local file settings, your local installation of Designer would accept those changes but I’ve not validated that yet.
