Can we find Universe the report was built on?

Hi All,
Is there any option in CMC to know the original universe on which the report was built ?

I mean there are 3 universe like this
FIN- universe rct
FIN- universe 1.0
FIN- universe 1.1

There is a report called “FIN-state report”

I want to know on which universe the report was actually built on.
Option I know is go to edit query of that report and look in the properties tab.

But I wanted to know is there any option in CMC.

Thanks,
GNK_BO.

If you go to the properties page of the object in the CMC you should see a Universe link in the toolbar. Clicking on the link will give you the universes used by the report.

Hi

Is there any way for the same in XI R 3.1?

You can do that in CMC by clicking right mouse button on object, then pick up tools->Check Relationships. The query result should inform you what universes where used.

Thank you zylek. That was helpful.

Hi Zylek,
Even I am in XI 3.1 environment.

These are the fields that I could see there.
Title , Type, Description, Path, Date Modified

I did not get clearly what this info is about.
Whether it is about the report info or the universe

Is this the feature available in XI 3.x? I can’t see “Tools–>Check Relationships”. We are on XI R2 SP4.

Yes. The “Tools–>Check relationship” feature of an object is avaliable in XI R3.x only.
In XI R2, as mentioned in the above post go to the properties page of the object in the CMC, you can see a Universe sub tab. If you click that sub tab you can see the universe and universe connection used by the report.

This info is about related objects to object on which query was ran. So if query was run on report object and any universe is displayed as result, the report is based on that universe. Besides you can check it out in reports properties → Default Settings → Report Universes, I’ve noticed recently

Hope this helps

Thanks Zylek. That information was more accurate.

Is there any way of getting this information for multiple reports, eg via a Macro in an Excel sheet?

We’ve taken over a bunch (technical term) of reports and don’t want to go through each one individually to find out which universe each is built, and the BOB XI R2 system we’re using has nearly 100 universes available…

Querying the CMS database is not the suitable solution due to unbound reports (report that lost the link with the universe).

Did you check the BOBdwnload’s area you have macros to document deski and webi documents …

I did look through the alphabetical index to the downloads before asking, but I haven’t seen anything obvious that would do the job.

Any assistance greatly appreciated!

the wid scanner and Dwayne’s macro to document a set of deski reports…

I’ll give them a go!

Thanks.
