Can Data Services be used as replacement for SAP TDMS

Hi,

We have a requirement at our end where sub-set of SAP production data needs to be replicated to non-production systems on regular basis.

I am sure Data Services can easily do it throgh RFC connections and standard Idocs for masters.

We have already been using Data Services for Data Migration (replacing standard LSMWs).

Now, SAP’s tool TDMS provides this functionality which can be achieved by SAP Data Services as well. I feel Only thing missing will be the front ends to trigger synchronizations and view sample data sets. But, we have microsoft’s master data services GUI tool to expose the staging area to users and select delta data for synchronizations.

I still wonder if that is the right approach and I hope we are not using a wrong tool here.

Waiting for some expert views on that, if any customer has really done it.

I don’t know of TDMS but the advantages of DS are its rich transformations. As replication is not using those I would rather lean towards using the other tool, assuming it is implemented perfectly for that task :wink:
