Can BO handle load of 8000 deski reports refresh a day?

Hi All,

I have a scenario in one of my applications, there is a base desktop intelligence(macro report) report which will call and refresh another 120 reports(not macro reports). This macro is scheduled to run every 2 minutes. Currently these reports are in BO 6.5 environment and we are migrating this to BO XI R 3.1 SP1 FP 1.5 environment. We did an analysis on BO 6.5 and found that some days in a month around 8000 reports are getting refreshed and in a month around 30000 reports are getting refreshed by this macro.

In our BOXI R 3.1 SP1 FP 1.5 setup we have only 1 desktop intelligence processing service. The server metrics have been set to default values. I would like to know whether my BO set up will be able to handle this much of load.

Our BO environment have 450 desktop intelligence reports and 1200 web intelligence reports and 700 users. Concurrent active users will be around 5-7.

Can anyone pelase advise me and any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

That is a big maybe that all depends on the size of the report (amount of data * how much calculation each report does) and the query run time.

I’ve pulled off something like this successfully on a single scheduler with around 4000 reports in a night with about 7 hours of processing on a database with fairly good response time.

The only way you will be able to know with certainty is a structured test on your server and your actual database. Run your report and limit it to say 500 reports to see what your throughput would be.
