One of the new “fun” features that will be coming to BOB shortly is the concept of “User Medals”. This will of course include the special graphics for Dwayne, Andreas, and Steve as winners of the first annual BOB Member of the Year voting. You may have also noticed that various members of Insight Speaker badges from the conference last fall as well. There are quite a few members that have been invited to speak over the years, and we would like to recognize them all, not just the current year.
So if you are or have in the past been a speaker at the Americas or European conference at any time since 1995 and would like to be recognized for that fact, please post your real name and the years that you have been invited as a speaker and you’ll get a speaker icon next to your name.
I have the conference agendas all the way back to 1995 so I can check to verify which year you were a speaker in case you are not sure. Yes, I really do have them… I am a pack rat.
The icon is a tiny “speaker” (not as in a person, but as a sound speaker) that will appear. Because of the number of repeats the result looks like this:
The speaker medals will be displayed next to (along with) the “Annual Stars” which you get based on membership years on BOB. When I repeated the speaker medal for as many conferences as I have been a speaker it looked really really bad… so for right now you get the speaker icon plus a number. If you hover your mouse over the speaker icon the text that shows up in the tool-tip includes all of the conference names.
On the profile screen the speaker icons repeat, one per each conference.
The new User Medal feature went into place this past weekend as part of our Version III update. I haven’t yet entered the information from this topic, but will be getting to it shortly. When they are in place, it will look something like this (look to the left):
2002 - Miami - Using Designer to Implement Row Level Security
