Has anyone had any experience with BusinessObjects/Query using MDX Connect with microsoft olap server? For example, does it work? The documentation on BO’s site seems to be sales sheets only.
I have a group I support who would like unbiased opinion.
We use SQL7 Cubes along with BusObj 5.1.6 and have the XLS Query piece as well. The Cubes work pretty well through WebI. I just tried it out through Query in XLS and like it alot. So I’ll vouche for the fact that it works. I had tried to put a WebI cube report in AF at one point and AF didn’t like it too much. I need to try again with the newer release.
The only complaints I have are a function of the MS Cube. I “grew up” on the old Pilot system which had a fantastic cube technology with the best time manipulation I’ve ever seen. MS and others just don’t seem to have the same capabilities in their cubes. The BusObj layer over the MS cube was pretty straight forward. The user interface is pretty good as well. They have several PDFs available on their support web site for OLAP as well as QueryMD under the products tab.
Steven,
If you are talking about OLAP Connect to Microsoft Analysis services,it works. I have used it for a demo for full client, but I know that with webi 2.6 and up ,olap connect is supported in webi also.
OLAP connect actually comes in the form of a macro.
