Business Objects Planning and Consolidation

Hi all,

what is the Business Objects Planning and Consolidation tool?
is it something like an add on with business objects?
does it need a separate licence ?

can someone please let me know some initial inputs.

i did went through the SAP portal and other stuffs but i would appreciate if someone who has some hands on could throw some light about my doubts.

BPC (formerly called Outlooksoft) as it is also called is a separate software product and requires a separate install and licence (it has nothing to do with BusinessObjects Enterprise/BOE), you can plan different scenarios for example for your upcoming budget rounds of 2011, etc.
It is a planning software, there is also [i]SAP Integrated Planning /i.

Can anyone highlight the differences between BPC and Cartesis which I understand is also a financial consolidation tool.

One day I will get my ahead around the product offering!
