Hi All,
Hoping someone has some knowledge of Epic Clarity.
We are currently on SQL server 2012 and moving to Epic 2017 which will need SQL server 2016.
If our Business Objects CMS database is still on 2012 but Clarity goes to 2016, will there be a communication issue between them?
Thanks in advance!

If I understand the question properly, no there is no issue having a different database for your CMS than the database(s) you wish to report against.
The version (or type) of the CMS database is completely unrelated to any databases you may be reporting off (via a Universe).
Your CMS could be on Oracle and you can have a reporting database(s) of DB2, MySQL, Postgress or any other supported database.

Thanks for that clarification Hayden.
The confusion I faced was when reading the vendors requirements which states:
“SQL 2016 is required as a CMS database repository” and the vendor has stated this when going to 4.2 sp4.
So it sounds like although compatible, they are playing it safer and requesting the use of 2016 all accross the board.

Looking at the PAM for 4.2 SP2, it looks like it will work with a CMS database in MS SQL 2012, 2014, or 2016.
