Building BO Universe using SAP BW

Hi…

Does any one have any idea of how to build a universe with teh SAP BW data sources?

I want the steps to do the same and also the connection parameters(driver etc…,) used

In short, you have to make an additional purchase … the SAP Integration Kit … to enable universes against BW. Not possible otherwise.

But i need to know if i have the SAP intergration tool kit installed, is the creation of the Universe same as the normal procedure say as in if the tables are in Oracle and then what driver is used to connect to SAP database.

Can you give me the details?

When i actually serached in the BO website i got Pdfs which gave info about connectivity of SAP with crystal reports and then conectivity of SAP with universe builder too. But i am yet to find an article which relates SAP with Designer.

With the SAP Integration Kit it would be the same…you will need to do the following:

a) Create New Universe
b) Create New Connection
c) Select SAP/ SAP Client
d) Give parameters of user / pass and parameters of the application server (this one can be given to you by your SAP adminsitrator or obtained in the SAP Logon)
e) Select Cube or Query
f) Finish

When you use ‘universe builder’, it creates a universe for you. From that point you can use designer to alter the universe.
