Browser upgrade issue

We recently encountered a problem that only occurs after updating Chrome or Edge to the newest version. The issue is that WebI reports will run indefinitely after the user enters a prompt value. Anyone else see the same issue?

What version of Chrome and Edge are you working with? That will help.

We are on BI4.2sp8 and have no problems with Chrome 108.0.5859.125, or Edge 108.0.1462.76. Both are 64-bit.

We are running BI 4.2 SP9 Patch 4 with no issues in Edge 108.0.1462.76 or Chrome 109.0.5414.75.

Chrome version is 110.0.5481.78

SAP has acknowledged this issue…

3299450 - While refreshing a web intelligence document from Chrome 110+ or Microsoft Edge 110+ the web page keeps loading indefinitely.

It looks like there is no 4.2 fix from SAP at the moment. It would seem reverting to the prior version of Chrome and Edge would be the best course of action as opposed to upgrading to BI 4.3. Yikes. :grimacing:

Thanks for posting this @nscheaffer, I need to download this article and get it over to our Desktop software people so they are aware of it.

Is this affecting scheduled reports?

workarounds:

  • Use firefox
  • Use firefox ESR
  • keep on chromium 109 or less
  • Use Fiori launchpad in BI 4.2 SP4+
    New * Use IE mode in Edge

Nevertheless, since 4.2 is in P1 Support (ANALYTICS BI Maintenance Strategy SBOP Products), we are not planning to deliver a fix for older 4.2 releases. If you are not able to move on latest 4.2 SP09 that is the only 4.2 release maintained (where fixes can be delivered), we suggest the workaround listed in the SAP Note 3299450 or to contact Google to accelerate the resolution.

Experienced this issue today. Most everyone in our organization is on MS Edge 110, v.109 seems OK. In a Google search found the following…

We are having the same issue with Microsoft Edge Version 110.0.1587.41.

A fix for Chrome has been released…

I just upgraded chrome to 110.0.5481.100 which apparently was released this week. This seems to have fixed the issue. That was a pretty fast turn-around from Google, too bad SAP doesn’t release patches as quickly.

The KBA does say that they still plan to release a fix for BI. They have added a statement that the fix will be included in BI4.2sp9 patch 13. There is still no mention in the KAB on when it will be released.

The new SAP for Me portal, has a calendar feature (https://me.sap.com/calendar :closed_lock_with_key:) that shows BI4.2sp9 patch 13 is planned for release this week. It is not yet showing as available for download.

seems it is finally fixed for MS Edge Version 110.0.1587.49 (Official build) (64-bit)
that sap note is not updated yet.

The SAP Note has been updated to reflect the fix version of Edge.

I checked the SAP download site, and BI4.2sp9 patch 13 is still not available for those that need it.
