Breaks in Xcelsius

Hi All,

Can we create data formating like breaks as in webi ?
attached is a simple webi report with breaks, can we create this same data format in Xcelsius.

The data is dynamic as you can understand, states might increase or decrease.

My Xcelsius 2008 sp3 dashboard is not on XI platform but on sharepoint using QaaWS (No live office).

Thanks for your help…!

I’m sorry but Qaaws pulls data in a straightforward manner. The way records are in the database is how it will likely be when you use Qaaws. The only way I can think of is use vlookup. Since each section would have an indefinite number of sub-categories under it, you will need to have extra rows with another vlookup across them.

Hi mhy,

Thanks for looking into this topic,

i believe to display such format we have only one component i.e. spreadsheet control, if we are able to do such vlookups on hundreds of records and insert some columns ( i wonder how to insert such rows in between). will the spreadsheet control reflect the format during run time ?

it will be great if you can upload a sample xls if possible?

Chandra

Hi there
I wonder if there is a solution to this issue?
I have a QAAWS that is built from a WebI report that has breaks - it needs to because I need to summarise the data but still maintain the detail for the input/output contexts of the calculations.
My issue is that when I check the QAAWS in WebI, it shows me the data beautifully. However when I get that data into Dashboards it seems to load but it shows nothing :frowning:
Would anyone have seen this before? I am using Dashboards 4.1 SP 4.
Thanks in advance

What about if you used BIWS instead?

Hi Andreas,
I think that is what I am using, if I look at this document … http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-29765
that is exactly the process I follow, however if the report has breaks in it, the data doesn’t come into the dashboard at all :frowning:
and if I don’t break it, there’s too much date and it fails :frowning:

Using BIWS will not work for the format required as you have to map the body and the footer (the breaks) rows separately.

Pretty sure you will not be able to get the dataset, which will be dynamic, in the format you need. I would review the requirements/specification…

Hi there
Thanks for you help - I eventually discovered I was not mapping the footers! and that solved all my problems.
Silly error on my part
