We are getting the same error. Please keep me informed if you have a solution.
We are running version 6.5.1 and it looks like it happens when in the query properties the smartspace strategy is set to columns insert, rows copy.

We’re on 5.1.8 and we get that when the user has an Excel pivot table in the same sheet as the query, AND the query has a smartspace strategy other than “overwrite” in both rows and columns.
We reported it to Business Objects some time ago. . .no fix yet.
Our workaround is to move the pivot table to a different sheet in the same Excel file – OR – change the smartspace strategy to “overwrite”.

Did you ever find a solution to this. We are converting to 6.5 and it happens when we try to insert an existing query as is. I will try some of the smart space strategy mentioned by some of the others.
update: smart space strategy did not help. I did compare the 5.17 bqapi.dll file with the 6.5 bqapi.dll and it looks like an issue with the way they built the insert query code. If we come up with a solution, I will update this. If you have found a different solution, I would appreciate an update.
