We are geting below error while inserting tables in universe.
Microsoft visual C++ - Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected!
Program: …Objects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86\designer.exe
(screenshot is also atatched)
Environment Details:
Database: MySQL 5.0
ODBC Driver: MyQSL ODBC 5.1
BOXIR2 with SP2
OS: WinXP with SP2
We are able to connect and run queries using MySQL Query(client tool). Is there any special configuration required in BO for connecting to MySQL database.
I tried with installing mysql connector for odbc 3.51 and creating ODBC DSN. The same DSN used in Universe connection and this time i am able to insert the table, join them.
I have also tired creating classes and objects, exporting the Universe, creating WebI report on it… it works!!
Manoj,
Just installed BOE XI R2 SP2 on a new developers machine against an Oracle database.
Was notified this morning that they are having the same issue. Import 1 particular universe received ‘buffer overrun’ error message and when clicking OK closes the application.
However, they are able to open other universes successfully.
I found this same problem after installing bo designer xi r2 on a new laptop. after a lot of research i found the error to always happen when i had an internet session active. i then isolated it to the Google Toolbar v 5.0. Upon removing the google toolbar from my machine, i am not experiencing the problem any more. (note, my old laptop, i had google toolbar v 4.0 and that laptop never experienced this problem).
We had same issue when we upgraded to Service Pack 2, it was resolved when we implemented Service Pack 3 and then Fix Pack 3.3 the problem went away. If you do not want to upgrade then the other alternative (but not advised) is to replace busobj.exe that comes with Service Pack 2 with an earlier version. Service pack 2 caused the problem for us when we inserted images or saved to network or had lots of records retrieved.
I was also a victim of this, and tripped upon this helpful tip about the Google toolbar. I at first disregarded this, but am now confirm it definitely has some merit since I actually only got the error when I had IE open, and I had the Google toolbar plug in for IE. I just now took the extra step of uninstalling the Google toolbar, launched IE, launched Deski, closed Deski, and no error! I do think its relatively recent behavior — it definitely didnt happen to me longer in the past, and I havent upgraded anything else, so perhaps at some point the Google toolbar upgraded itself and was incompatible. I did notice that it didnt seem like reports were corrupted or anything, but it was still an annoying error.
Yes, the Google toolbar auto-updated (maybe it even asked first) to v5 and introduced the error. I downgraded to v3 and have not seen it since. Don’t know if you can still get v3. v4 is here:http://toolbar.google.com/T4/index.html
v6 beta is out, but I haven’t tried it.
I have down graded to version 4 but Google automatically updates so you can’t keep the old version. Does anyone know how to turn off authomatic update for the Google Toolbar? I have tried going into Google Updater and changing the update to manual updates only but this function does not seem to stop the toolbar from updating automatically.
Is there any explanation of the role of Google toolbar leading to this error?
As I am getting the same error while installing XI 3.1 in windows environment.
