All,
Does anyone know about any plans that BO may have to come out with a version that supports 64-bit Windows Server O/S? I know that currently BusinessObjects XI Release 2 is not supported on 64-bit operating systems.
Does anyone have any information on this?
Thanks,
SD

As far as I know BO does support 64bit servers - not sure if it simply runs as a 32bit system though.
I should find out soon - I have just rolled out onto 2 of them this week
They’re running perfectly at the moment - only one issue:
Is anyone running XI on 64 bit windows servers?
I have ODBC connections defined in both Programs / Data Access directories, and Deski and Designer uses the connections without any issues when running directly on the server, but I get an ODBC error via Infoview on all the connections and Universes?
And the CMS is working?
Is there anything that has to be defined within the XI installation and does anyone have any idea as to the function of this directory in the installation folder:

Well…this is what BO has to say:
The following are the supported and not supported OS/chipset combinations for BOE, CRS and CVS w/ regard to 64-bit OS and 64-bit chipsets:
Windows 32-bit on 64-bit AMD/Intel chipset: supported for BOE, CRS, and CVS
Windows 64-bit: not supported
No other chipset architectures (including Itanium) for any of the above OS are supported whether the OS is 32-bit or 64-bit.
The database client drivers used by BOE, CRS, and CVS must also be 32-bit, but the database server software, OS, chipset, hardware, and little LED light that let’s you know whether the server is powered on or not can be whatever the database vendor supports.
I wanted to know when does BO intend to start supporting 64-bit Windows on 64-bit chipset. [/quote]
