BOXI rel2 AIX ,Tivoli, WebSphere

Hi ,
Maybe anybody has an experience in installation BOXI rel.2 in configuration:
1.AIX 5.2
2.Web Sphere
3.Tivoli Directory Server, Manager
4.DB2 ver.9
I need information how to do :

  1. CMC- our client wont to manage users , user groups, folders , reports, authorization, connections and ect. via LDAP - IBM Tivoli Directory Serwer. CMC will be transparent.
  2. Installation in configuration HA IBM HACMP- Server active /passive
  3. Calling reports from application as link but with user rights
  4. Auditing- witch report page user used, refreshed, printed etc.

Is it possible to do without any programming?

We have done something similar here. We deploy Business Objects XI thru Tivoli. We use Websphere as the application server and IIS as the web server on DMZ. We use LDAP engine for Siteminder for SSO. The only difference is we use Sun Solaris instead of AIX.

All that you stated can be done from BO XI. We just finished the installtion and configuration. The plug in for LDAP and Siteminder basically lets you define users in LDAP and the plug in creates the users in CMC. So you do not need to create users in BO.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.

It’ s nice I’ am not alone.
I understand LDAP is only to create: users , user groups and authorization but what about new reports and Folders. Can I manage Folders, Universes?

Nope. You can do that from CMC. LDAP is only for user and group access.

Thanks kid03;

We are facing a similar situation, everything is working fine with the installation; except the fact we are not able to configure LDAP on siteminder.

Can you help us with few questions:

What plugins would I be needed from siteminder.
Also, can you provide me few steps (checklist ) that can help for step by step installation?

Thanks,

to whom…

Was there any solutions found here to the LDAP setup with BO XI here as I believe we’re in a similar situation. We’ve installed BO XI r2 onto Sun Solaris.

We use LDAP but its not a ‘single sign on’ – we do not use ‘SiteMinder’.

We can login to BO XI Desktop Intelligence via LDAP yet Designer does not (although we can using an Enterprise login).

Must we use this SiteMinder (if so is it an extra plugin than we have for LDAP?) to enable Designer to work or will this never work because we’re not using LDAP in BO XI as a single sign-on.

all comments are grateful…

regards, Steven
