Is it possible to have three instances of BOE (DEV, QAS and PROD) on the same box with the same IP address? We have a newly installed Blade Server with 16 CPU, 64 GIG of Ram attached to a 8 TB SAN. Virtualization software was not purchased so the question is can I create separate Intelligence Server Agents which point to three CMS databases for the separate environments? Or is the best (meaning correct) solution to ask for virtualization software and install each environment on its own virtual machine?

I dont think its possible (web.xml defining three CMS’s?) to have three env in one. you are better off with Virtualization software for future maintenance (Production moves).
It is possible to have more than one environment running on one server, but it is not recommended. The issue you will face is to keep the systems on different ports, which will require you to set up and configure things manually. You’ll need 3 instances of your web application server (tomcat) which is complex enough…
So it can be done, but don’t do it. Go with VM and you’ll save yourself a lot of late nights troubleshooting your system.
