BOBI 4.1 database support question

We are planning to install BOBI 4.1 in Windows 2012 server. We have gone through the Platform Guide of BOBI 4.1 regarding “Semantic Layer and Connection Server # Data Sources” - the guide mentions that BOBI 4.1 supports MS SQL SERVER 2008 R2. Currently we have MS SQL SERVER 2008 only. Our question is: does BOBI 4.1 supports both SQL SERVER 2008 and 2008 R2 or this is restrited only to SQL SERVER 2008 R2. Thanks in adavance.

As far as I know support for SQL Server 2008SP1/2 is still OK, but it depends on which connectivity you want to use. ODBC is no longer supported with WinSrv 2012 as it no longer supports MDAC, so you either use the native client or OLEDB.
Best to verify with support or youtr Account Manager if the PAM is not conclusive.

Thank your quick reply. But I see both ODBC 32 bit and 64 bits support Windows 2012 server. I see both of them under Apps in Windows 2012 server. If I am mistaken please correct me. Thanks again.

Hi,

We are currently deploying BOBI4.1 with SQL Server 2008 R2 via ODBC and we are facing some trouble: always have the following issue when starting the SIA :

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Failed opening session for user … CDatabase::Open failure. ).

Installation is working fine, but at the end, when I should log on the CMC as Administrator, I get a critical error : FWM 20031 (meaning CMS was stopped due to a critical issue)

Does anyone have any id ?
Thx !

Hi Kenny

Can you please let em know how you resolved this issue. I am also using a ODBC connection with windows NT authentication while creating the repository database. It is giving me exactly the same error. Although it seems BO has been installed successfully i am not even able to log onto the CMC portal. Really appreciate if you can let me know how resolved the issue. Did you use SQL sever authentication instead in NT authentication ?

Regards
Sanjit

Hi Sanjit - We use “SQL sever authentication” instead of “NT authentication” in creating our ODBC connections and all them worked. We use Windows 2008 R2 operating sytem for our BOBI 4.1 server.
