BOb and Citrix

Any other help, hints, or cautions anyone could add on this subject would be apprecited.

No problems, nada. Two of our clients are using it, the first installation I kind of played by hunch, and it works fine.

The second one we did “by the book”, which also works fine. (My hunch was close to the procedure described in “Installation Guide”…)

The only hint/caution I can think of is to be careful with drive letter names, if you use them. For UNC naming, this shouldn’t be a problem, but I’ve never tried with UNC…

The biggest problem I has was with cut & paste. A hotfix was developed to cope with the
problem, and works well. Search the Citrix forum for Business Objects for details.

Win Frame 1.60.179.94
Business Objects 4.1.2
Version 3 of NT

I know there is an issue about the Cut and Paste and I’ve applied the addition in the registry as stated in the Support section on the Citrix site. However, we are still getting a Dr. Watson when we attempt to either cut or copy information within a Business Objects report. I’ve also applied the Citrix patch stated in the BOb install manual.

Is there a higher 1.6 version that would solve this problem? 1.7 is not an available option for us since it’s not an approved corporate standard for the company I am currently contracting for.

Thanks in advance.

Have you installed service pack 5 for Winframe 1.6 ?

You then need to install hotfix se165075 (or replacement) and:

  1. Create the Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Compatibility\Applications\BUSOBJ

  1. Add the following values to the above Registry key:

OpenClipboardRetries: REG_DWORD: 0x40
OpenClipboardDelayInMilliSecs: REG_DWORD: 0x78 Flags: REG_DWORD: 0xc

The problem is caused because of the delay in BUSOBJ trying to open the clipboard, which through Citrix is a bigger task since it needs to connect to the client clipboard as well. The hotfix simply lets BUSOBJ retry to open the clipboard X number of times with a delay of Y before each retry.

If you are still having problems you could increase the number of retries and or the length of the delay.

If this still doesn’t work, I did manage to get around the problem before the hotfix by starting up the clipbook viewer before starting business objects.

Hello,

We are also planning to use BO on Citrix. Some of the terms here seemed greek and latin. Please help me in understanding them.

  1. WinFrame : What is this ? A special product
    from Microsoft ???
  2. About Citrix : I know that Citrix is an emulation
software and thats all. Could someone explain its architecture, installation method, issues with any version of Windows …etc…

Thanks in advance for any help/info given.

Check www.citrix.com. You should be able to find enough there to get familiar with the product. If you have specific questions about implementing BusObj in a Citrix environment, check back here.
