Bo xi 4.0 User machine configuration

Hi

I have a question… Bo xi 4.0 needs 64bit machines… so the developer’s machine and server has to be 64bit…

The users who are running the report or running a dashboard SWF file… do their machines also has to be 64 bit…

Thanks

Crystal Reports tools are still 32 bit and even if some tools make it to 64 bit they will run without issues on 32 bit machines. I learned part of the BI 4.0 PreConference seminar at Orlando FL.

SAP BI 4.0 consists of 2 packages: SERVER components and… CLIENT components.

The Server components are… installed on a Server and are 64-bit applications requiring therefore a 64-bit server OS.
The Client components (Webi Desktop, Universe Design Tool, IDT, etc.) are 32-bit applications and typically require 2GB RAM+ and a decent CPU.

Of course for WEBI one can just use the WebInterface (requiring an Internet browser + JVM) to connect to the SAP BI Server, this will allow the user to view/edit/modify/create new WebIntelligence documents.

A user just wanting to view a WebIntelligence document or an Xcelsius Dashboard (Flashfile) just needs an Internet browser and Adobe Flashplayer.

Note: LiveOffice, Dashboard Design (Xcelsius) and Crystal Reports Enterprise are not part of the SAP BI CLIENT components, but separate installations with their own respective Product Availability Matrix (PAM, see: www.service.sap.com/PAM).
