When I did an SP2 install, it installed in less than an hour, that was quite soon after release…
I understand if your Microsoft installer patch is up to date, then you do not face issues - I must have got lucky :).
On the server, i have installed the SP2 of Business Objects (before, i have installed a microsoft patch)
I have the issue on the client computer. I have installed Business Objects Xi 3.1, i have tried to install the SP2 of Business Objects. i have an issue, because the msi file is too heavy, i 'm on windows XP SP3. I don’t understand why i can’t install the SP2 on the client computer.
hi - don’t know if you have solved this question yet but…
I was getting an error message when trying to install the SP2 Client on a machine with Windows XP.
The message stated that the install had detected that a recommended MS patch was not on the machine…Error 1718 file was rejected by digital signature policy…
I opened a ticket with BO Support and they sent me an email stating that this is a known issue with Windows XP machines and some Windows 2003 servers…
they said there is a patch for the servers and also sent me information on a workaround for XP
We had the same issue when attempting to install SP2 for Client Tools only where the message referred us to the Microsoft KB.
Most of our machines have got Wins XP pro so we needed to apply the workaround (registry hack) which worked, but not a long term solution.
There is another post in this forum where they advise us the following steps;
You will need to run SP2 directly:
. The file you downloaded from the CSP site is a big EXE file (about 650m)
. Watch when it first starts up … the first thing it does is extract everything to a Temp directory
(something like: c:\Documents and Settings(your logon id)\Local Settings\Temp\package)
. Go to that directory after you get the warning message
. Double Click BusinessObjectsClient.msp to run the install directly
You might also want to copy off that package directory if you want to install later or on another PC (it’ll save the extracting time)
