BO XI 3.0 installation

Hi,
Iam using windows 7 and I want to install BO XI 3.0 (Server) on my system. It is by default installing in " C:\ Program Files(x86)\Business Object" path.Is it correct?.

Also how can i check the installation software is 32 bit or 64 bit?

You can change the default install path by entering something different (like D:\Program Files(x86)\Business Object) if you wish.
BO XI 3.0 (and 3.1) are only available as 32 bit versions.

Blair:
We got environments SP3 or SP5 were the software get installed on D:\Program Files(x86)\Business Object) or D:\Program Files\Business Object) and we haven’t notice any difference.

I got his note from "Supported Platform"guide:
Note: The 32-bit compiled binaries of SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise software is supported on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Windows operating system (running on either x86 or x64 CPUs made by AMD and Intel).

Be aware, only SP3 and up introduce support for 64-bits. Any version lower than that and you are in 32 bits

Hi,

I have installed it on default path but i am gettting error in CMC while login
i.e
" Bad port number in CMS name fe80:0:0:0:806c:f771:cc6c:2c10:6400 nul"

i found all of the servers are disabled except central management server.I tried to restart them but could not.

Tom, you are closer…You need to enable those servers (Services) thru CCM. Enable them first then start all of them.

Make sure when you login , you use the syntax SERVERNAME:port, by default port number is 6400, unless you change it.

Try login first within the server console, rather than from a different workstation to discard firewall issues.

I disabled the firewall and i am able to start servers and able to login in CMC but i am getting one error while trying to create connection in designer

"
CS:DBDriver failed to load: C:\Program Files(x86)\Business Objects\Business Objects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\dataAcess\connectionServer\dbd_oci.dll(The specified module could not be found.) "

Also when i logged in infoview and try to create report i could not find any universe listed .Also checked in designer no efashion or island resort marketing was present

Tom, have you had the opportunity to check this?

or

Are you working with Oracle? Those two issues/resolutions involve Oracle, but I am not familiar with the RDBMS.
Give a try and post back results…

Gook Luck

Resolved it…Yes I did it!!

I changed the installation path of Business Objects from “C:\Program Files(x86)\Business Objects” to “C:\SAP\Business Objects”.

Reason:
i am using oracle 10g and its installed at “C\Oracle…” but BO was installed at “C:\Program Files(x86)\Business Objects” so oracle was not able to find .dll file.

Everyone, I tried to install in c:\program Files\Business Objects instead of c:\program Files (x86)\Business Objects. How can you force to install in c:\program Files\Business Objects. Just FYI, I don’t have server running on my machine and no odbc connection on my machine. I need to connect to server and run deski report. I have xi 3.1 sp3/oracle 10g on my machine. but giving sql or connection sentence error.
