I think it depends what product du you want to install on it in which Version

there is no 51.x product supported… on 2003 Server

Version 6 WEBI is installable from 651 on…

before that you are unsupported - but you could overrule the setup with certain parameters - sure to be found here in some threads…

I agree. Windows2003 does not work with BO until 6.5.1.

I’ve heard folk lore from certain consultants that even with 6.5.1, we should stick with Win2000 vs. 2003. I couldn’t get a clear answer why. Anyone have experiences in this regard?

I have to start understanding installations and upgrades - are Win2000 Server and 2003 Server the only or main platforms to use when doing a 6.5 or XI installation?

Windows 2003 is very stable with 6.5.x. I believe it’s more stable because it manages memory better. BO uses alot of memory, so the more help the better.

6.5 and XI run on a variety of platforms. While Windows may be the most prevalent, I know of customers running on different flavors of UNIX. I believe (not sure) that XI runs on some Linux flavors as well.

We switched our BO6.5 environment from Win2000 to Win2003 about two months ago and BO has been running flawlessly. On 2000 we had issues with memory mgmt and un-released BO processes. None of those problems have manifested on 2003.

Thanks

I’ll try to install it again on our Win2003 server early next week. Tried this morning and it didn’t recognize the path I was pointing the license files to.

We are having trouble with 6.5.1 on Win 2003 server - specifically the WILoginServer process will get up to around 2 gig of memory and then it just stops working. If the tech stops that process, when it restarts, it is using 71 meg. Seems to be an on-going issue

We have problems with WILoginServer on Win 2000 as well.

How long does your LoginServer take to refresh. We have 2 servers that take 24 seconds. Both of these have this runaway WILoginServer problem. Our other 7 servers refresh in 8 seconds and have no LoginServer issues.

Steve Krandel :us: (BOB member since 2002-06-25)

How many users do you have?

Our 6.1 wiLoginServer refreshes in under 3 seconds. We have ~400 user accounts though.

Our tech says it takes about 10 seconds to refresh itself after he stops the process. We have an open ticket on this.
These are the errors we get:

We did a MS Hotifx last week and then reconfig ORB to go with it. Our tech was not happy as they did not tell him what the hotfix did.

We are having the same issue with ConnectionServer as with WILoginServer - both max out at 2 gig and then no longer work. BO Tech support is suspecting a DB2 UDB issue and already gave us a couple db2cli.ini changes. Did not make a difference. So, does anyone have this trouble on DBs other than DB2?

I am trying to install 6.5 on Win2003 server. Created the path and copied the XML key files for the installation to take place. Once I get to the step to locate the path - BO tells me that it does not recognize the valid license file.

I checked through the forum and didn’t see anything like this. Is there anything else I need to do to get the installation to continue? Thanks in advance.

check with BO tech support. License problems are common

We have BO 5.1.8 (using Full-Client) with Win2003 Server using Terminal Services.

It’s works, but… Why do you think, this version not work in Win2003?

Juan_Lu :es: (BOB member since 2005-05-11)

5.1.8 may work on Win2003, but I don’t think it’s supported
