BO Client roll-out - installation nightmare- please help!

Hi,

We have done the below steps installating BO4.0 on a new machine.

  1. Logged into a machine with a user ID that has admin rights on it

  2. Installed BO4.0 client tools

  3. Log out of the machine

  4. Log into machine as an UserA who DOES NOT have admin rights on it.

  5. Open up Information Design Tool and login to the BO Server by creating a session. (the user has been set up on BO as an enterprise user).

“THIS WORKS FINE.”

  1. Now open up WebI Rich client tool and login to the same BO server.

THIS DOES NOT WORK!!!

The error at the bottom of the screen said “Unable to login: login failed”

  1. Contacted SAP and they said it is necessary that the UserA who will be logging into client tools to have installed the BO client software.

What I cannot understand is, why did IDT work w/o any issue ???

This has been going on for a few months now. When it comes to rolling out BO to user machines (power users) , it is a laborious and difficult task to get them set as admins first and then ask them to install the BO client software themselves!

Please, please let me know if this is a known issue/ practice and this is how everyone else does the BO client s/w rolled out on user machines ?
