BO Application - Domain/Server Name Changed

HI All,

The domain(server) on which the BO application was installed has been changed.
For e.g. If the Application was on Domain A with Server name as Server A
has been migrated to Domain B with Server name as Server B.
But the IP address remains the same.

In this case, once the domain/server name has been changed, wat all changes are required on the BO application in order to have the new changes to be reflected for the BO application to work properly.

Also, any document which explains the steps to be followed would be very helpful.

Its little bit urgent…so if anybody is aware of such changes, do reply asap.

Thanks in advance.

If you have migrated from Server A to Server B using Import Wizard, I don’t think there is a need to change any settings. Are you receiving any error messages while accessing the BO on Server B?

Hi Raj,

I think you did not get my point.
The server on which the BO application is running is being migrated to a new domain having different server name, but the server remains the same and also the IP address does not change.

In this case the services will not start. So I want to know the step by step process that needs to be followed while making the required changes.

Thank You

Did you check windows event viewer for a detailed error description, it should give you a lead

learner 16,

I have never experienced this but i can think about some possible impacts.

  1. If you have SSO ( Vintela) and some VIP’s for InfoView - you might need to check these and SPN’s to make sure they function after the change.

  2. I haven’t seen any of the tomcat files taking domain/server name, so should be fine.

  3. I have seen only server name dependencies - so services should be able to communicate.

I wish i could help more here, if you have access to support - please do check and make sure. Some of the gurus might be able to provide better inputs too.

Learner16,

Recreate the BO Services.

i think depends on how is your boxi architecture… if you already have webapps on server A (the one affected by the domain change) and CMS on another server, i think you have to do nothing except for configuring if needed your webserver, instead if you had all on the same server AND when you installed BO you used the old domain to connect to the CMS you need to modify all the web applications, looking into the xml files for the old domain and update with the new one… (maybe it’s better and safer to redeploy all)
hope i understood :expressionless:

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies.

I agree with Raj_admin.

The BO services will be required to be re-created as the old services will be still pointing to the old server which is ideally not available and because of this the services cannot be started.
Also the web.xml for Tomcat will have to be modified inorder to point it to the new server name.

By making the above changes, the BO services are working properly and the application is also working as required.

If there is any other way/process to be followed, kindly let me know. This is 1 of the way/process which was followed inorder to have the services running properly…
