BO 6.5 Server Upgrade

We wanted to move out our BO 6.5 application from VMWare to a more powerful server. As I am new in admnistering BO, I hope to get some guide on how to do this and what to look out for during the activity.

The operating system of the BO machine is Windows 2003. The repository is in Oracle 9i db which sits on an AIX server.

Thanks for your help in advance.

He He

Practically I’m doing the same in the same days.
Tell me what you need to know and what tools you have.

Hi Aldo,

Basically, I need to move the BO apps in VM image to another server. What I know is:

  1. Install Apache/Tomcat
  2. Install BO

What is the next step to this? Especially on migrating objects/files from the VM image to the other server.

Hope you could help out.

Thanks a lot.

Well . . .
After installing apache and tomcat you have to install a connector too.
I have used the JK connector.
Than when everything is ready you have to give some rights to the user starting BO Start, Configure Server will ask you those permitions in start.
than configure the ORB-s as needed.

Tell me in details what else doubts you may have.

Thanks, Aldo for responding.

I hope you can still accommodate a few questions:

  1. What should I move from the old machine to the new?
  2. How about the reports? Some said I need to export them then import on the new. How is this done?

Thanks again.

Hi Hype

Normally the BO full Client Reports reside in the BO Repository Database.
So you don’t have to move them.
Basically you install the new server and configure it.
Plain and simple, you don’t move manually nothing (the user configurations of WebI will be reset, maybe you can copy the storage directory but I don’t suggest that)
