BO 6.5.2 and XII

Hi all,

We had a presentation of BO XI few days ago, and according to them, there is going to be sooner a SP2 for the current 6.5.1 (focused on bug fixes) and then the BO XII (Q3-Q4), where, finally, full-client and WebI will match their functionality (they said 100%)

Do you have more details about those versions? Do you really think that WebI XII will have the same functionality as full-client???

Here is the information as presented at the North Texas user group yesterday:

  • Because the integration is proceeding ahead of schedule, plans for Release 12 have been postponed indefinitely.
  • Instead, the majority of features previously slated for 12 will be included in a second release of XI (XIr2) later this year.
  • XIr2 will include the return of full client.
  • XIr2 Webi will have synchronized data providers.

I’d say the “Webi will equal full client” statement is false. If it were truly equivalent, they wouldn’t be bringing full client back.

I agree with that; but I don’t understand (and I don’t like either) why they say “WebI will equal full client 100%” I think that may drive to unrealistic expectations…

We are finding a lot of limitations in the current release of WebI, 6.5.1, (compared to the functionality we had in full-client) and we were looking forward to that new release matching functionality but now… I’m a little disappointed

XIr2 is scheduled for late Q3. They may do it as a controlled release, with GA 2 or 3 months later. We’ll see.

As for functionality, I haven’t heard anyone from BO say that Web Intelligence and Full Client will have the same functionality. In fact, Web Intelligence will not have Free Hand SQL or VBA capabilities.

oh please post rumors about release date on 652 because the notify from ESD does nerver work in the expected way and I am sick of checking 3times daily for ESD :reallymad:
Bo Support today could not give me any hope for a soon 652 release - spoke of Q3/Q4 which would not match any needs and habits…
so I stick to your words and hope…
because the already used hotfixes are starting to multiply…

Funny you should say that. The subscription site used to tell us when a new release was availalbe. It simply doesn’t do it anymore.

Hi all,

Indeed old BO customer must directly go to Xir2 with the return of full client but a thin repo ! due to negative reactions with the Xi !
I haven’t heard that there will be synchronised dataproviders in this version on webi !
It is said that the great version is 6.5.1
Anybody try a migration to Xi?
It seems to be a hard challenge !!!

6.5.2 is supposed to have synchronized data providers in Webi, per a BusinessObjects speaker at the last DFWBOUG meeting.

:crazy_face: I thought that synchonised DP in WebI was not until 6.x / 6.6 and thus now not until XIr2?

:frowning: I guess this thread and this thread just go to show that BusObj have not communicated their strategy at all well, if people are relying on guesswork and hearsay to find out about release dates and content.

I hate it…. every time there is a new release, SP, or whatever, the same problem, no dates, no functionality defined, etc…… each Business Objects representative saying different things, different dates, different functionality, etc :reallymad: :reallymad: :reallymad:

I’m using BO since I don’t even know, 4, 5 years…. And since then, they are saying always “next release of WebI will be the best! A lot of functionality, etc” and I’m still waiting to be able to do the same that in a full-client….yes, we have a new wonderful UI in XI (sure to be improved in XII), but we are still missing a lot of functionality, I don’t really understand how they are selecting the requirements to implement for a new release… :reallymad:

I know…. But it is funny because I was in a presentation of XI few weeks ago and they said, “next version, XII, is going to match client functionality 100%”, and I asked “100%??”, they said "YES, 100%"…… and now it seems that it won’t ever be a XII version… :rotf: :rotf: … :wah:
