BI4 webi report export to excel save as issue

Hello

I am using BI4 sp6. when I tried to export any webi report and tried to open and then save it, I am seeing a warning message -

“errors were detected while saving abc.xls Microsoft Excel may be able to save the file by removing or repairing some features. To make the repairs in anew file, click continue”

and after I click continue, its saving the document with no issues and can open it and work with no errors

I see that by default the save as type is ‘Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet’ and I am having excel 2010 in my machine.

Is it that BI4 exports reports to excel 97-2003 version by default irrespective of the version you are using in your machine ?

No, it offers both options.

Export as Excel saves as a .xls file
Export as Excel 2007 saves as a .xlsx file

You want Excel 2007

Thanks for the reply. agreed.

no issue when I choose excel 2007.

my question was when I choose excel and then tried to save it, I am seeing the warning message. and observed that save as file type is always Microsoft Excel 97-2003 worksheet

Yes. That’s because the Save as Excel option in BO4 is the same as the old Save as Excel in XI3 - it saves as a .xls file.
From Excel 2007 onwards, Excel moved on to a .xlsx file extension. If you’re on Excel 2011, you’ll want to save as Excel 2007.
