[BI4.1] Disabling Export to CSV option in Webi Reports

Hi All,

As the Export to CSV option in Webi exports all the underlying data rather than just the displayed data this is considered a security issue and needs to be disabled. Unfortunately I can’t get the option to work

From CMC I am chosing Folders → Manage → Top Level Security → All Folders. I am then choosing a group all users are added to and Assign Security → Advanced → Content/Web Intelligence/Save as CSV → Explicitly deny for this and all sub-folders.

This doesn’t work though. Users can still select this option from the export menu when viewing a report.

Any ideas? This is a BI4.1 system where the Users, groups, folders and reports have been imported from a BO XI R3.1 system using the Upgrade Management tool.

Not sure about 4.x, but in 3.x there are granular rights for “Save as Excel / PDF / CSV” etc. If the Export the reports data right is granted, this allows you to “Save as” in any format. In lieu of this, you can set the individual “Save as Excel / Save as PDF” rights to limit capability to only those formats you specify rights for.

Hi NMG,

Perfect. I denied access to “Export the reports data” and also explicitly to “Save as CSV”, other save options were granted by the “View on Demand” Access level.

Now the export button is available but CSV options are grayed out.

Many thanks.

Hi !

I’ve a problem pretty close to this one about the button :
the people in “Read only” have the “Export” button to save the report in PDF, Excel or csv and the button “User Prompt Input”.
But I don’t have it as a “WebiDesigner” ! I’ve only the possibility to export in csv and the “Pompt” button disappeared !
I tried to give it explicitly through the “Level access”, but without success.

Is it normal ? or is it once again a enhancement from SAP … :frowning:

Thank you for your help !

I’ve found a partial answer here :
http://scn.sap.com/community/businessobjects-web-intelligence/blog/2013/12/16/feature-differences-between-the-web-intelligence-clients-bi41-sp02

which explain the differences between HTML & applet, and obviously the “Report” button is not on with HTML, but we can use “Save as …”

same option, different button … :hb:
