I’ve got a vanilla deployment of Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.0 Premium, with some Webi and Xcelsius content added in.
I’m trying to use BI Widgets, and I’ve found that while Webi works okay (ie can open a report up, drag a block onto my desktop as a widget), Xcelsius refuses to work.
If I have a SWF file in my public folders, I cannot open it at all. If I try to open a widget from disk, and pick the SWF that is saved to my desktop, it gives me an error.
This was a direct cell connection in Xcelcius too - no web services or funky data coupling.
It was a bit worrying - I demoed to a customer whose standard desktop machines had 512k of RAM. Lets say no purchase orders were made.
I hope BI widgets doesn`t go the way of Intelligent question (and the direction polestar will probably go) as it looks useful. It just needs optimizing for xcelcius content.
I’m getting an error as well. Every time I attempt to acquire an Xcelsius Flash file, I get “Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation”.
I’ve tried this on two separate machines. The flash files I tested were ones that were self contained. ie: no calls are made for data.
In looking up the error over google this looks to be a .net error. Looks like SAP/BOBJ has some work to do…
I have the exact same issue. I’ve tried everything and it wont open.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Just installed BI widgets 3.1 to try out again…dropped a full page Xcelsius dashboard onto my desktop, with 7 or so charts and 3 Live Office connections, and it’s sitting there happily hardly touching my physical memory. Looks a lot better since XI 3.0.
josh.fletcher /// amitmishra4: Did you ever find out the reasons why Xcelsius refuses to work (drag a Webi/Dashboard block onto the desktop as a widget)?
