BI Launchpad and Data Services

Hello experts,

I’m new to Data Services and I’m having dificulties to understand how it works. Can I use Data Services from BI Launchpad at BO 4.0?

Hi,
Data Services is an ETL-Tool and can not be started from BI Launchapad.

BI Launchpad is a platform (Portal) to publish Deski/Webi/Crystal Reports.

You have to install Data Services on e.g. Windows Server 2008 and start it from Start > Program > SAP Business Objects Data Services 4.0 > Data Services Designer

Thanks for the fast reply, Abgoosht. My intention was to get used to the tool at BI Launchpad while I don’t get my license key from the project that I’ll work at.

Besides that issue, at a daily usage of this tool, how it is structured? I mean, I should have it installed somewhere to monitor/change settings. This tool should be installed at all client desktops? Or there is a way of saving license money installing at a single client and be accessed from other locations?

BI launch pad is a web application that acts as a window to business information
about your company. In BI launch pad, you can perform the following tasks:
• Access Crystal reports, Web Intelligence documents, and other objects and organize them to suit
your needs
• View information in a web browser, export it to other business applications (such as Microsoft Excel
and SAP StreamWork), and save it to a specified location
