BI 4.0 Patch 14 Install Error

I have loaded BI 4.0 Server (51041015) onto a new VM environment. I tried to install the Patch 14 (20007504) and am receiving the following error message:

Setup Engine Version Too Low
The currently installed version of the setup engine is too low. This product can not be installed.

I have only installed the BI 4.0 Server so far, any ideas why I am receiving the error?

In accordance to your info provided i believe that your setup engine version

that means more like

when you try to install a setup that supports windows installer 3.1 in windows xp sp1 it will give an error that need windows installer 3.1 so you need to install that …

Here it says that setup engine version meant to say that the setup engine is of low version mite be you have to update that or that patch is of high version

The patch level is 14. The downloaded file from SAP Marketplace is ENTERPRISE02P_14-20007504.exe.

I have successfully installed the SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.0, Version 14.0.2.364.

I misstated my issue. I am receiving the error upon the Extract of the ENTERPRISE02P_14-20007504.exe file. I attempted to extract to my desktop, but receive an error stating 4.0 not installed and cannot extract.
The Extract of 4.0, 51041015_part1 (_part2.rar, _part3.rar, _part4.rar) extracted successfully.

This is a new VM box, do I need to download a WinRAR app?

I appreciate the help.

So you mentioned the setup as a patch file …
Hmm weelll

It has stated that it could extract and also states about the error

In real if its able to extract it has no error

Its just a statement produced by winrar due to some internal linking coz the BO setup files are split up in two three different files

Btw its no problem way if you install using the files extracted

MAking it more clear

in most of the programs that have setups with multi rar files

these are interconnected and upon the start of the extraction of the first

the next files in the line come into the continuation as the present one completes the extract and so on…

If you opt to to do it one by one then it will prompt you for
overwrite stuff

more or like in most cases its going to be the same …in most softz

Btw keep the cool and get going …No issues :))))))

Hi

There are 4 files in BO XI 4
which you have downloaded.
1)ENTERPRISE02P_14-20007504.exe.
2)_part2.rar
3) _part3.rar
4) _part4.rar

when you click on the 1st file that is ENTERPRISE02P_14-20007504.exe it will call the rest of the files (_part2.rar, _part3.rar, _part4.rar) automatically no need to extract manually.

i would request you to delete all the files except 4 files (ENTERPRISE02P_14-20007504.exe.,_part2.rar, _part3.rar, _part4.rar)
and then double click on the 1st file that is ENTERPRISE02P_14-20007504.exe. and after it finish extracting begin your installation.
for any further help mail me owais@ritnoa.com and don’t forget to mention
the bobj forum so that i can recall you.

will be happy to help you

Thanks

Wow, I’m not sure if the language translations threw everyone off, or perhaps I’m the one reading this wrong… but it sounds like your issue is:

Issue:
When trying to extract the patch file “ENTERPRISE02P_14-20007504.exe” on your desktop you’re getting an error that states “4.0 not installed and cannot extract”

Solution:
The self extracting Rar files you download from SAP have two sides to them. First they self-extract (which is why they are .exe files and not .rar files) , but they also have code in them to automatically kick off the setup file after the extraction is complete.

In your case the file extracted, then tried to kick off the setup on your desktop, which I’m guessing is NOT your BOBJ server. Hence the error message is correct in that you don’t have R4 on your desktop

What I would suggest, as I’ve had lots of problems with SAPs RAR files in the past, is to grab a copy of WINRAR (You can get a 30 day trial for free, and it still works after 30 days with just a nag screen). Then you can use WinRAR to open up even the EXE files and Extract the contents manually.

Once extracted, move them to the server and run the setup/install as needed.

Good luck

JPetLev - this resolved my issue when extracting Patch 14.

Took a while to get authorization to load the extaction tool, but finally got it. Thanks for the workaround.
