BAIR File Details

Hi,

Sorry if this is posted at wrong place.

I have never done a migration. I have a fine idea about Migrating from one CMS to other CMS. But how about BIAR?

I have read some posts in this forum which were helpful but there are some doubts. Might be some silly questions.

I have no idea about how a BIAR file is created.
Is it done through backup process or any other way to do the same?

I would like to know if BIAR file contains only CMS database data or also FRS.

If i choose BIAR file as source is it necessary to choose it as destination?

Why BIAR as a destination in some cases when data has to go finally in the CMS Database?

BIAR thing is new concept for me.

whats the whole process like?

I think this is posted in the wrong place…

Not a very good idea. There are issues with using BIAR as backup or for migration purposes.

BIAR file is created using the import wizard.

It depends on what you want to do. If you need to create a BIAR file as part of your backup, you select it as destination. If you need to copy content and metadata to another repository, the BIAR becomes your source.

Your BIAR contains all CMS data and files as well. However there are a few exceptions like global settings etc. You need to read the Import Wizard guide to confirm.

You need to do it to know what its like.

For sample check will it be possible get data from text (users, groups)as source and put in BIAR as destination?

Any idea if the XIR2 users moving to XIR3 also not preferring BIARfiles.
