Is there no way to add a title to an axis automatically (ie. without having to mess around with adding a cell, then typing in the name, then moving the cell around until its positioned right on the graph?)
There appears to be no options for adding a title, to say the Y-Axis to describe the values that appear on the y-axis.
For example: My y-axis is in dollars - but it represents millions of dollars, instead of actual dollars - please tell me I can add a title to the Y-Axis to say “In Millions” or something along those lines.
I’m afraid not - inserting a note in a separate cell isn’t such a bind, is it? You can potentially format the values so that they indicate this. I dunno, you might have $1,000 $2,000 and $3,000 at the moment indicating actuall values of $1,000,000 etc…you could change the format to show $1M $2M etc…or even show the full amount, so it may be in the database as $1,000 but there is no reason to stop you formatting it to display as $1,000,000.
Ah well - our business support team is supposed to be looking into if this is available on a newer version (on 5.6 right now).
Its a spacial issue - most of the information I am dealing with is in the Billions of dollars, and to have a graph show $10,000,000,000 on the Y-Axis just takes up way too much space, so I convert everything in the millions - would be nice to have the Y-Axis labeled to show its in millions - guess I can just include it in the Chart title, that $ are in MM’s
When I first created graphs at school, many many years ago, we were told that every graph should have a title and the meanings of the axes clearly defined. I find it totally unacceptable after all these years that this isn’t standard functionality (I submitted an enhancement request back in 2000).
Now playing with analytics and dashboards for the first time, it looks as though the same issue exists.
