Automatically clearing the Apache / Tomcat cache files...

OK - I can’t seem to find an answer so I’ll ask the experts…

Can the Tomcat cache files be automatically cleared? I am new to the Apache / Tomcat environment and not sure what damage may be done by clearing the cache files automatically.

We are running BO 6.1.b and related files. Apache / Tomcat version 4.1
