Automated reports cease working after some time

Hey folks,

first, please excuse my English, I fear I don´t know some of the correct technical terms, but I´ll do my best to explain nevertheless :?

I have a massive problem with automated reports. We use several of those to create Excel files with sales reports each morning, which then are used by the staff.

In order to reduce the amount of data, I limited the report to orders in a certain span of time via the information our system saves whenever an order is placed.

Now I have the following problem: First, everything works fine - one week, two weeks, but then, without any warning, the automation fails with the program claiming that the date I use to limit the report being out of the allowed range.
But that´s not true - first, I checked it for mistakes and second, the system creates it automatically, there is no input mistake possible.
What puzzles me most: It is still possible to create the very same report 1:1 manually - it only fails when automated.

After this occured, if I switch the restriction date to another date - let´s say from 20.11.2014 to 19.11.2014 - the cycle begins anew: It works for some time, then ceases.

Is there maybe any registry entry or similar on the server which may cause that? At the last company I worked for, I never experienced this behaviour - and in this one, Business Objects / DeskI is only used for some months and nobody is really experienced with the server part.
Heeeelp :wah:

And the exact version and patch level of your SAP BusObjects server is, please?

Andreas :de: (BOB member since 2002-06-20)

I´ll check with IT and revert to you :+1:

BTW, I forgot to mention (if of any relevance at all):
The format of the date I use is dd.mm.yyyy HH:mm:ss (unconverted, right out of database), but the time is always 00:00:00

Also, are you using a clustered set up? Can you give a technical decsription of your system components, please?

@Andreas: Enterprise XI 12.1.0

@Mak 1:
Single server in VMWare Cluster
Windows 2008 R2

So that sounds like XI 3.1 with SP1 or no SP at all?
Might be worth looking into patching your BI system then.

Andreas :de: (BOB member since 2002-06-20)

Where can I see that? Then I´ll tell IT to look for the information.
Problem is, I do not have Super-User permissions and direct access to the server here. But I am quite sure we had at least one Service Pack installed.

Ask your BusObjects Administrator to look up the exact build number, visible in the CMC. They should actually KNOW the exact patch level.

Andreas :de: (BOB member since 2002-06-20)

Hm, having access to the CMC now, too, gives me under “Info” indeed only “Produkt: 12.1.0” with no service packs or similar mentioned.

See here to cross-reference build numbers with actual patch level: Business Objects versions

Looks to me a patching week is in order at your place :wink:

Andreas :de: (BOB member since 2002-06-20)

Erm… 12.6.4.2066 … that´s not even in the list :?

KaMiBi :de: (BOB member since 2007-11-08)

Should be XI 3.1 SP6 FP4 I guess…

Andreas :de: (BOB member since 2002-06-20)

So it seems to be quite actual… any more ideas, anyone? :?:
