Hi, we are running BOXIr2SP3.
I’m coming up against a problem I’ve encountered a few times before.
We have several distinct universes/users and data sources sharing the BOXI platform.
We have 2 distinct groups of users and have created 2 Server Groups of WebiJobservers for running many scheduled reports.
I’d like to limit User Group 1 to running jobs on Server Group1 and User Group 2 to running jobs Server Group 2. This will prevent the users of each application from impacting on each others scheduled jobs.
This appears to very easy. Apply rights on Server Group 1 to give View Rights to Group 1 and No Access to Group 2. And vice-versa on Server Group 2.
The good news is that when scheduling a report, Group 1 users can only see Webi Jobserver 1 and Group 2 users can only see Webi Jobserver 2.
The bad news is that the default setting for Server Groups is ‘Use the first available Server’. If the users leave this setting as it is then I found that the restrictions applied do not have an effect, and a the first available Server is used regardless of which group is running the report.
Effectively this means I can’t provide separation to my user groups and therefore Group 1 could dominate the available Webi jobs, leaving Group 2 jobs pending.
I can’t believe nobody else has come up against this problem?
Thanks in anticipation of your help.
