*.ASC files in reference_data directory

Hi All ,

I see several files ( CDLABEL.ASC , LABEL.ASC , VERSION.ASC) in reference data directory. These files store Release dates associated with directrory. These files get overwritten everytime new directories are installed. Is it OK , if we rename the files everytime we unzip new files in this directory. For ex - After unzipping ELOT directories , we plan to rename these files to CDLABEL.ASC_ELOT_JUN-13 , LABEL.ASC_ELOT_JUN-13 , VERSION.ASC_ELOT_JUN-13.

Please advise.

Why do you want to keep these files? If you’re trying to maintain the old versions I would create a separate directory structure instead of using the production one.

Thanks Jim for replying. I have no intentions of retaining these files. I just wanted to know what other people do with these files.
