Are alerters applied before or after breaks?

I have a report with 2 columns with breaks. In both columns I have applied alerters which in some situations modify what is displayed. In the case of the first break column, I only get the pre-alerter values, but in the case of the second-break column I see the values after the alerter has been applied. So I am not sure which is done first: a break on the underlying values and then an application of the alerter, or the alerter is applied and then the breaks applied as though the alerter ouput had been the actual data?

Alerters should be applied after breaks - they format what is visible on the screen.
Just another peice of information - Alerters do not change the formatting if your column is a crosstab header column. They format body text only.

Hope that helps…

I have just read the 3.1 manual and this explains my ‘funny’ results I think:

Which leads to effectively a random application of the alerter :frowning:
