We have recently migrated from xir2 sp2 to xi3.1 sp2.
i am facing an issue with arabic database.
wen i refresh the report the arabic charcter shows some junk data like “???” instead of arabic characters. the same reports run fine in xir2
Database is oracle 10 from which im firing the query.
Repository is SQL server 2008
can an one suggest were is the problem and how to trouble shoot

To start troubleshooting, run the query directly in SQL plus of the client machine

Hi Haider,
from sql plus the data gives fine.
but when i run from business objects infoview or deski 3.1 it gives junk data.
in xir2 version the data is displayed properly in arabic character.
both in infoview and deski.
pls help

is everything (database/repo/servers) configured to use UTF-8 ? Most likely this is a language setting somewhere

You might have checked it in the SQL plus of client machine and not BOBJ server. Run the same in SQL plus on the BO server
And as agulland pointed out, BO server might be not be configured properly to display arabic character set and so you are seeing junk data in DeskI reports on Infoview and in DesktopIntelligence of server
