I’m creating a master installation. I want the BOMain.key in the SHDATA folder and everything else in the client’s LOCDATA folder. I have instructions from the BO User Conference which says to alter the Security.key file by opening it with Notepad. When I open it with Notepad it is unreadable (ASCII).
You can control this when you run the Master setup.exe from each client. After double-clicking setup.exe on the Master installation, click the Modify button in the bottom right hand corner; the following dialog lets you control whether the BOMAIN.KEY and other security files are Shared or Local.
Make sure you are trying to open Security.key and not Setup.key. Also, note that there were a couple of mistakes (nothing major) on the presentation as presented at the conference. Let me know if you would like a revised copy, or pick it up as a Word document from http://www.techsupport.businessobjects.com, Article # 1684.

Luis, could you please tell users how to get to a particular Article number on the techsupport web site? I seem to recall once having the ability to request a particular article number. However, I can’t find it now.
If I do a Search on the Knowledgebase, with “1684” in either the “ID #” or in the “Search For” text boxes, either with “Full Text” or with “Title Only” selected, I get Search Results of: Sorry, no matches were found with your search criteria.
Are only BusinessObjects staff now able to search for particular articles by number?
I agree that it is less intuitive now, but let me take a stab at it… When you get to the first search screen, click on the “Advanced Search” link next to the Boomerang check box. This, as you’ve guessed, will do an advanced search for Boomerang articles. You can, of course, do the same for Vantive.
Anyway, when you get to the Advanced Search screen for Boomerang, you have the option for searching for articles by ID, author, etc.

I can’t find the Boomerang (or the Vantive) check boxes on the Advanced Search screen.
Am I missing something here?
