Advantages of BOXI over previous versions of BO

I am looking for some advantages and limitations of BOXI over its previous versions.
Can someone help me out with some document on the same?

Advantages of Business Objects XI:

  • Trusted, proven, and scalable server architecture
  • Integration with Crystal Reports
  • Finer granularity possible when assigning rights
  • Encyclopedia
  • Process Tracker
  • LiveOffice

Business Objects XI Release 2:

  • Synchronized data providers (keyword: merged dimensions)
  • More functions in WebIntelligence

Drawbacks:

  • New security model --> Training
  • New CMS database and FRS (File Repository System) replace the classic Business Objects repository --> Possible challenges in a globally distributed environment

That is definetly good news. What is the experience of those who have shifted to XI from WebI 6.x? Do you still see the same amount of errors, silent failures and do you still have to force a periodical restart of WebI servers?

I did not have a whole lot of problems with 6.5.1.

IMHO, XI is a step in the right direction.

Also,what are the issues commonly faced when migrating from BO 5.0 or any other version to BOXI?

Unless you are part of the Beta program you do not have R2, you have R1. R2 is scheduled to be released sometime later this year. Business Objects has not published a specific date yet. They still say sometime in this quarter

How does Encyclopedia get built? Where do I start and using which component?
