BusinessObjects Board

Admin Console unable to show up secondary node

Recently we incorporate BO Webi clustering in our environment.

Original scenario: two primary nodes with a load balancing at the web app, the problem was when a user created a personal document it only was saved on the Report Server that host.

So we configure them as Primary and Secondary nodes using a domain account with required grants, and leave shared storage using a share drive on the Primary.

every thing works as expected on Dev environment. The wiadmin report shows 2 hosts properly configured.

The issue we’re feacing is on production, no errors but the report that we got just shows the primary node.

I’m guessing our secondary is laying and all work is performed by primary node.

How can we check or found if the seconday node is working?
How could enable to bring both servers in the admin report?

Primary, secondary and clients nodes are defined using the Configuration Tool.

The Administrative layer will only show you Nodes registered in the cluster. So, please try Updating the ORB using Config Tool and check if you have correctly created Secondary Node.

Use the Administration Console to activate BusinessObjects modules on secondary nodes and check if these modules are working correctly after starting the node :+1:

 Our team could not find the cause during these weeks. For some reason one security police was applied and our domain user, used to access the share drive in the Primary Server was unable to create/write any files.

When we review the folder security (tab) permissions the domain\user was there with full control.

Then we replicate to the child folders, but didn’t fix the write issue.

Was until we checked the Share Tab, click on Pemission and we found that Domain\user was missing here. After that we re open configuration tool to leave all settings as they appeared.

I can’t have a clear explanation, but now I we can see both servers as expected.

Thanks

Thanks for the information.

Yeah, some times we can’t find the exact resolution as Updating ORB clears most of the configuration issues as in BO 6.x servers (processes) communicates internally using CORBA.

Anyways, nice to hear you can see both the nodes now.
