I am trying to schedule a report to go to a number of email addresses in XIr2. When I run it through the scheduler I get the ‘address error. CrystalEnterprise.Smtp: (501)’ error message. This lead me to believe that the addresses were wrong but when I checked in my own mail system they validate correctly. When I try and schedule the report and send it just to one or two addresses it works fine. Found reference to this on the web and its stated you cannot have more than one address in the .CC field. I have none. Can anyone help please. This has us completely stumped.
Have you solved your problem yet? I have been having the same issue and found out that if you are using a Distribution List from OutLook it needs to be a Global list. Local Distribution lists will not work. You also must right click on the distribution list and get the exact email address to type in not the descriptive name Example my list was called Business Objects Develops. The actual email address was DList000@xxxx.com. This seemed to work.
Thanks for your reply. No I’ve not fully got this working yet. Have got round it using global distribution lists like you say but have the same problem as yourself using local lists where you end up having to type in the actual address or addresses. I’ve logged a call with BO and someone is looking into it for me…may be an issue with the amount of characters you can put into the to field or something like that. I did find reference to the error message but it origanlly came from crystal and was caused by putting more than one address in the .CC field. Not applicable in my case. Will update this if I get any more info.
Been a long standing issue, you can have more than one but you can’t have more than something like 30 (I forget the exact number). If you fail with more than one, it’s the delimiter you’re using - must be semicolon and a space
Got a sort of solution for this from BO. Basically, you have to have each email address fully typed, so basically someone@somwhere.com, the mail applications alias is no use. Also, between each email address you must use a space and not a semi-colon. I was using semi-colons and that was part of the problem.
since I added two more adresses in the field: -
Had no problems with 13 adresses so far - even with more than one in the cc-Field: but the scheduled report is shown as: Failed - but afaik all users got their report per email! - and could not find any ; , or " " problem so far…
I will investigate though… because it does not look good when all the schedules are logged as failed - but still working ^^
Maybe its been fixed as part of a hotfix or something or only applies when you’ve lots of email addresses. Can’t really remember to be honest, was such a long time ago I had this problem. Not something I’ve experienced since.
I am also facing the same issue. It is not workimg even for single email address. Do you guys has found any soution. My situation is gettig very critical since all of our reports are distributed using email and all of sudden on Saturday all the scheduled jobs started failing. Do not know what to do??
Came across the same problem - mine was the type of double quotes used around an email address. Cutting and pasting the list into Word helped me see the difference.
I was having the same issue as in if I had one address, it would fail. But if I had more than one address, it would be successful. Finally got the scheduled report to email with one address if I put a semi-colon ( at the end of the one address.
You can put your email address distro lists in a database table, create a a webi report on top of the table and then use the webi report as the distribution list.
I am also facing same issue , in the To List Ihave 15 email address and CC List I have 5 Email address
THe address are written in following Format.
TO: abc@bc.com; dd@dd.com; cc@cc.com …and so on
similarly for CC the same way
so please advice what is reason for getting this error.
Previously i have scheduled this report,it was working fine. There was one email address in the Schedule/notification tab, there is a email address of a person is not working anymore, so after cleanning up the email address from the list , this error is gone. Check the success email and failure email notifications, destinations.
