I am adding a user to BusinessObjects but when I add them in the Supervisor Module it says that a ‘user/group with that name already exists’ but the user is not showing in Supervisor. Is there somewhere else I need to check??
It happened to me too. I think it is taking time to show the user you entered. So hit refresh from the view menu of the Supervisor. If that does not work, log out of the Supervisor and Log back in. You Should find the user you entered.
The user that I am trying to enter has never been entered before??? I tried refresh and loggin out an back in to see if I was missing anything but the user id is not there and I still cannot add it. Does a list of the entered users show up in one of the Repository tables? If so what is the table name??
Business Objects definitely does not make it easy to search for a user using Supervisor. Here’s one more suggestion of something to try within the Supervisor module.
Try right clicking on the name of one of your defined groups. Select properties, and go to the “Users and Profile” tab. On the left will be a listing of all defined users not already a member of the group you selected. If you find your missing user in that list, but don’t know where else they could be defined, add them to the group. Next search for that user within the group you just added them to, right click the user, view their properties and go to the “Groups and Profile” tab. You’ll have a listing of each of the groups to which the user belongs. If they were accidentally added to the wrong group. you can modify their rights here.
I have seen both the situations that Radhika and David are referring. I think it is more of “bug”. Sometimes I had to go directly to the tables and rename the user-id (I would never recommend “drop” from the database directly). Then drop and re-add the user-id from the front-end and it seems to do the work.
I certainly agree with David that BO’s way of handling the “search for a user-id” leaves much to be desired…
FYI. Therefore we are still going thru the extra motions making the process more cumbersome.
