ActiveX viewer within WebIntelligence 2.51

I am having trouble with the activex display of reports. They do not appear as they do in the full client. Not even close.

All formatting looks fine in the full client and when using the HTML option. But go activex and columns get cut off or in the details they run into the next column. Basically, it looks real bad. If these results get cached where are the files? Are there any settings in WebI to clear this cache??

Anyone got this working??? What printer driver did you use?? I know I have to load a post script driver on the server.

To get the rendering closer to the full client doc, try using the having the same printer driver on the client that created the doc and the server. If you have the same, the results should appear very close.

During the beta they told us to use post script drivers.

Has this changed??? What happens to other users that use different printer drivers from what I am using???

Speaking of activex and webi 2.51, any word on printing multiple page reports within WEBI? Headers and stuff still don’t want to carry over (using a large number of lines), and we don’t want to have to print pages individually…

Is this a next version change or is ActiveX a way out?

ACTIVEX is the answer for now. It does print multiple pages and follows what was set in the client.

Its just getting it to format correctly…

This was one method, but to highlight the readme, you must have the same print driver that is installed on the webserver as you do on the client that created the report for accurate rendering. In addition you can use the option “Print as BusinessObjects 4.1” to help maintain the document font integrity.

Steps to using the “Print as BusinessObjects 4.1” 1. In Business Objects, click on Tools > Options. 2. On the General tab, select the option “Print as BusinessObjects 4.1”

Another good workaround is to add the “HP 5M LaserJet” Driver to the Server as the default. This will not completely correct the display of the report, but the printout is much improved

And I would assume…

That drivers need to be on all nodes running BOserver?

So if I understand you correctly load a 4V driver not the post script 4v (4V is what is on my work station) and the 5M (not the post script 5M) and make the 5M the default.

Is this correct???

I will try this tommorow to see how it works…thanks…

I am experiencing some of the same problems, however I solved some of them by installing the same print driver on each node that is attached to the cluster manager. I don’t think that it matters what driver you use but they must be the same.
I have clients that can view the enhanced mode page that is generated from the cluster manager just fine, but when they try to print the report, some of the margins and formating are incorrect. The client is using an HP III driver. According to tech support once the page is rendered on the client, the print driver on the client should interpret the page correctly. I am going to try a different printer on the client if one is available. Darrell Pulliam

If you use the ActiveX module you can print multiple pages and selective pages from within WebI and full client reports.

The suggestion in previous notes got the ActiveX viewer working but still required a few touchups to 2 columns.

It will be suggested to BO to come up with a “local” viewer that use the same technology and logic that is being used by WebI. That way customers can view the reports as they would appear in WebI prior to posting them to users.

This is available with HTML but not ActiveX.

There is a newer version of BO / Webi in the pipes, due out summer / fall - that will have a web based client that is practically identical to the full client side…

Altho that may change between now and release, but the version I saw was pretty close

If you use the ActiveX module you can print multiple pages and selective
pages from within WebI and full client reports…
